I have a pretty wicked badass level idea, and I got the most important gameplay elements figured out via the Controlinator... but trying to map the layout of the level is a pain in the ass since I can only view a little bit of it at a time. As I build it, I can never tell how close I am to the walls of the level... which has f'ed me over a few times. And just in general, trying to place anything that's bigger than the camera zoomed out is impossible to do.
Is there any way to just get a complete birds eye view of my entire level in Create mode so I can make sure im not near any of the walls? And/or make sure whatever I place down is properly positioned in relation to other large objects in my level?
A birds eye view...

Unfortunately not. It would help in some cases, but it would have to zoom out VERY far to get the entire space in view. So far that you probably wouldn't be able to see much. Have you tried tilting the camera left or right to see better?
