I used to only listen to Iron Maiden, Shitallica, Judas Priest, Helloween anda few others back in the days, but I'm less interested in the genre and it's sub-genres as time goes by (with a few exceptions), though I still listen to some of it from time to time. Either way, here's my contribution:

Metal you say :hmm: it's something I used to love in my mid/late teens, you know, Slayer, Slipknot, Korn, System of a Down, Machine Head, Devil Driver, Static X, all that jazz. But as I got older I found myself not enjoying it as much, and I do think it was because I wasn't as angry.

That's because you grew up :P ! Thing many people don't do (*looks at Manny*), or at least don't do to some extent (*looks at self*).

Maybe I worded it wrong, I grew out of it and found myself enjoying other genres more. I'm still as childish as any grown man

I think it has very little to do with maturity level, that's just absurd! If anything, all this dubstep crap will be gone when people "grow up" and get out of the clubbing every night state of mentality.

There is so much more to this kind of music than just anger...

It's not really about "maturity", it's more about people listening to it when they are in their 14s-20s because of some reason unbeknown to me. Practically everyone I met back when I had said age, and practically everyone I know in here that has said age listens (or listened) to it.

And yes, there's much more than just anger, which I never even mentioned.

I don't just listen to metal...some of my other favorites genres include industrial, IDM, drone, shoegaze, post-rock, dream pop, krautrock, ambient, crust, post-punk, avant-garde jazz, minimal techno, east coast hip-hop, etc. I'm pretty much open to anything. Metal is just one of my favorite styles to listen to, and it's not because I use it as a vessel to "vent my anger"; rather, I enjoy the sound.

I know you do and that you are open to almost everything, can't you just tell I'm fucking with you? lol

And again, I don't think anger has anything to do with people liking the genre.

If you are truly into the genre as a whole, you will not grow out of it. I know plenty of older people who enjoy metal. Its a part of you, and a part of your lifestyle. The only thing that happens is that you have less time to listen to the music you want because life is busy.

I wouldn't necessarily call myself a metalhead since a majority of "metalheads" you see are assholes. I listen to more than just metal. There are tons of different genres of music outside metal that I enjoy and there are very few new bands that I enjoy. Metal is one of my favorite genres because I love the drumming and the guitar and it's rebellious. I refuse to wear Hollister and listen to manufactured audio pollution.

It's not really about being into the genre itself. I know many people who were like that and listened to all kinds of metal (from well-known bands to unkown Norwegian ones), but as time passed by they stopped listening to it as much as before. Then again, I also know people who are old and still listen to all kinds of metal (old and new).[

Also, those I know didn't stop listening metal becuase their life got busier. If anything, they had more time to listen to music because they spent quite a lot of time driving from point A to point B, and then to C, so they were always carrying CDs.

I knwo it was, but since you pointed it out in your previous reply, I addressed it.

Some excellent Torture Doom Metal... really messed up lyrical content, flawlessly executed. I used to talk to the guys that made this, they are pretty nice guys. My avatar on .com is actually one of the guys from this band.

I was kind of expecting grindcore, but it's nice.

What's wrong with "Core" genres Deth?
I'm mostly into the experimental/Progressive stuff like Veil Of Maya, BTBAM, After The Burial etc. Basically bands from Sumerian Records :)

I don't really like Metalcore or Deathcore. You might not like some of the stuff I've posted either. :P

Insect Warfare - Protection Maze

Nile - Papyrus containing the spell to preserve its possessor against attacks from he who is in the water

Nile - Wind of Horus

It's short enough. I think the owners vinyl was a little scratched because you could hear it skip a little in some parts. :)
