Outside of the more comic-esque graphics, how does this game compare to Heavy Rain?

No spoilers please!

I haven't seen too much about The Walking Dead (the game), but from previews I've read it sounds like it's a game that focuses on character interactions with people/environments and story. Which to me sounds a bit like Heavy Rain. I know this is more akin to point and click adventure games then anything else, but to be honest... Heavy Rain wasn't too far off from that concept right? Sans the pointing and clicking.

Just curious, since I absolutely loved Heavy Rain and the more games like it the merrier, I say. :)

While I've only played the demo of Heavy Rain, I can certainly see some similarities between the two games. Both are heavily story based instead of action based and the decisions that you have to make will impact the rest of the game and some of them are pretty damn difficult decisions to make. It's a character driven game with what seems like lots of twists and turns and the first episode was amazing.

If you like the comic books, the show, or character driven games I'd look into picking this up. It's only $20 (or in your case, a random number of MS points  ) for the season pass and it's been a blast so far. The cliffhanger at the end of episode one was fantastic and makes me really look forward to continuing my story.

A "season pass", you say? That's pretty tempting actually...

Yep, you pay the $20 now and get episode one. When the next episode releases you don't have to pay anything and just download it. You save $5 by purchasing the season pass, pretty good deal in my opinion.

Lame. Seems that fancy season pass isn't available on the Xbox 360. :(

Think I might wait until Episode 2 to get more of a vibe on what people think of the game and go from there. Plus it'll give me the opportunity to see if all the episodes are lumped into one big achievement list (ala what the PS3 is doing) or if each episode will have it's own spot on my profile (I prefer what the PS3 is doing). ;)

I've played and Platinumed Heavy Rain. I saw the first 15 minutes of game play for The Walking Dead. There are similarities. I would call them comparable. Obviously, Heavy Rain's graphics are by far better. Also, the action sequences seem to be way more intense in HR than in TWD. I would say that the only similarity would be the heavy emphasis on story and character development. I suppose you can throw in the "what you do now affects the rest of the game" thing.

So, why no PS3? Also, if you don't have a PS3, how did you play Heavy Rain? Friend's hows? Come to the Dark Side my friend. You will feel the Force flow through you. Feel the power of the giant selection of awesome exclusive titles. FYI, I'm not 360 hater. Just messing with ya. :D

Dreakon was a PS3 man but has recently gone the way of the 360.

What James said is correct, I dug the PS3 for a while but gave into temptation since I know more people with the 360. The PS3 got the ol' heave ho to help pay for it. Given the post count, I've spent quite a bit of time around here and I like the community enough that I'm having trouble just leaving completely... plus the guys around here are smart and as far as multi-platform games are concerned, the PS3 community opinion is just as valid as the 360. ;)

Yea, like I said, I'm not 360 hater. And yes, I did notice your post count before. I just figured you felt what you stated about the PS3 community. I'm more frequent on another PS3 site so I know how we all can be.

Well, I'm sorry to hear you left us in the way of gaming. Hope you come back to the PS3/PS4 side eventually. Hopefully MS will get their shit together and open up Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath to you guys on Live. You guys are missing out on more excellent games than that one too due to MS dumb ass Live policies.

I would call them comparable, but loosely. The graphics in Heavy Rain are obviously better, but I love the art style in The Walking Dead. It's really like you're playing through the graphic novel.
