I've just realised how much grinding you have to do, to be able to afford any of the Iconic Armour. F**k that for a game of soldiers.

Has anyone managed to get it quicker or in a sensible way without having to grind away at the few missions that dish the Marks out?

Not really, you have to complete the dialy and weekly missions, they do have a lot more missions available now if you have the dlc, as you do higher level missions you get alot more marks. Id give some of the battle suits but the game wont allow you to trade those items.
