Roadmap

Stage 1: Complete The Tutorial And Missions

Unlike in many other fighting games, the missions in Guilty Gear: Strive are all about teaching you how the game functions. Even if you're already well aware of how Guilty Gear works, doing the missions earns you some money that will be useful later, so complete as many as you can. Don't worry if you can't complete them all though: very few are actually required for trophies.
[TUTORIAL] Finished the tutorial until the end. (Excluding Team of 3 Mode)
[MISSION] Completed 5 difficulty Lv.1 mission.
[MISSION] Completed 3 combo missions.
[MISSION] Completed 3 character match-up missions.

Stage 2: Arcade, Survival, and Training Mode

Guilty Gear: Strive doesn't have a traditional story mode, so these modes are your main options for single player content. Use these to play around with some characters and pick one you might like best to complete the rest of the trophies. You can try for the secret boss now if you're confident, or leave it for later if you're not up to the task just yet. Either way, there's a cheese to it that makes the whole thing far easier (For more details, see Gold Messiah Will Not Come).
[ARCADE] Defeated the Boss with 1 character.
[ARCADE] Been challenged to a battle by a rival character.
[ARCADE] Defeated an opponent with co-op.
[ARCADE] Defeated the powerful boss at the end.
[SURVIVAL] Win a round against the mysterious challenger.
[TRAINING] Trained for more than 30 min.

Stage 3: Play Online

Yes, there are online trophies, but thankfully they are very simple. Online fights are most of the meat of this game, so you may consider spending more time here to try and get some more of the other miscellaneous trophies, but those can all be done offline as well. It's your choice.
[ONLINE MATCH] Fought a match in the Rank Tower.
[ONLINE MATCH] Fought a match in the Open Park.
[ONLINE MATCH] Completed the Network Mode Tutorial.
Customize the hair, top, bottom, shoes, hat and equipment of your avatar.

Stage 4: Cleanup

Most of the game's trophies will take place here. The only stipulation for these is that they cannot be done in the tutorial or training mode, but they CAN be done everywhere else. Private online matches between friends (or "Player Matches"), public ranked matches, public unranked matches, a local match with two controllers, even against the CPUs, all of them WILL count. Make your choice of how you want them done, and get those trophies!
[VS CPU] Win against a CPU opponent.
[REPLAY] Watched 3 replays.
Spent 100,000W$.

All you have to do here is complete Arcade Mode with any character, on any difficulty. There is no difficulty selection for Arcade Mode in Guilty Gear: Strive - instead, your first opponent will always be set to Hard difficulty, and the game will adjust it down lower or higher depending on how well you do against them. For this trophy, it doesn't matter if you're on the most difficult or the most easy difficulty, nor how many times you retry. As long as you beat Nagoriyuki on Stage 8, you'll get it.

Sometimes, on Stage 8 of Arcade Mode, the character you fought back at Stage 1 will jump in to help you fight the boss. This tends to happen on lower difficulties, so don't expect help if your difficulty level is Extreme. This will likely pop your first time through the arcade, but if it doesn't, just lose on purpose to get a lower difficulty and try again.

This is the hardest challenge in the game, and what might bring the difficulty of this plat up to a 6/10 or 7/10 if it weren't for the cheese methods available. Despite how menacing the secret boss might be, and the requirements to reach him, it's all actually somewhat easy if you know what you're doing.

Step one is getting to the boss. This requires you to beat all 8 stages of Arcade mode without losing a single round. This means you need to KO your opponent twice without getting KO'd yourself at all. This includes the Stage 8 Nagoriyuki fight, who has received a massive buff in damage and defense compared to normal gameplay. However, there's no need to start all over if you lose one round. Simply lose the next round on purpose, then hit Retry. The game only checks to see if you've been KO'd in that specific match, so you can try any fight as many times as you like until you finally get it without losing a round.

Any character can do this with enough skill, but if you want an easy method, simply select Sol Badguy. He has a very simple and very powerful move, which you can do just by holding forward and pressing Triangle. He'll slash his sword forward while it's covered in fire. You can spam this move over and over, and even on Extreme difficulty, the AI has trouble countering this technique. Eventually they'll figure it out, but by then your Tension bar will be high enough for you to perform one of Sol's most powerful moves, the Heavy Mob Cemetery. You will fly across the stage and do an un-blockable grab for massive damage, which the AI will rarely avoid. It's not a perfect strategy, but it works the vast majority of the time.

This easy method, however, will not work in Stage 8 and 9. Nagoriyuki is far more powerful than he normally is when you fight as him, and his AI is far more advanced. On Stage 9 it will even read your inputs and react impossibly fast to practically anything you put out, but thankfully, you don't need to be a god at fighting games to defeat him. There are a few different methods, but the one that seems to be the most consistent is to grab him at the beginning of the match, double jump towards him immediately as he's getting up to avoid him swinging his sword, and grab him again to throw him in the opposite direction. Keep repeating this until his health bar is low enough that it changes color, then stop jumping. He'll become far more defensive at this point, but ironically, this makes the grab strategy even easier. Simply sprint right into him and throw him forward, and when you get close to the wall, turn him around and throw him again. Again, this isn't a perfect strategy, but all it requires is knowing how to grab, and how to jump.

Notes:

  • DO NOT leave him pinned against the wall. It may be tempting to try and throw him into the wall over and over again, but he becomes less consistent when cornered, and he WILL break out, doing lots of damage to you in the process.
  • Try to keep him in the center of the arena if possible.
  • Additionally, after you throw him enough times, you'll find he's stunned and can't do anything. Again, it may be tempting to do some kind of extra powerful move on him, but it always seems more difficult to get him back into the grabbing rhythm after punching him out of it, and it always seems to do more harm than good.

This is a lot of info, but it's easier than it sounds. It doesn't matter if you lose a round in Stage 9, you'll still unlock the trophy after he's beaten.

Survival Mode pits you against opponent after opponent, but you only have one health bar to face them all. Every 10 rounds, you'll face a "mysterious challenger," who will just be a more powered up version of one of the cast. This trophy will unlock when you defeat your 10th opponent, which sounds daunting, but the AI is quite simple for the first ten rounds required. If you're really struggling, the Sol Badguy forward +Triangle spam mentioned in Gold Messiah Will Not Come makes for a simple and easy experience.

Mission Mode aims to teach players the ins and outs of how to play Guilty Gear: Strive, and how to work with its unique mechanics. The missions are all separated into levels of difficulty, and for this trophy, you'll simply need to beat 5 of the level 1 missions. This shouldn't take long at all, they're all very simple, and you can skip any you somehow find too hard to accomplish.

This is the more difficult of the mission trophies, as this one asks you to complete three of the combo missions. These are always the last mission of their difficulty level, so there are, in total, 5 to choose from. The first three are the easiest: Combo - Gatling Combination, Combo - Special Cancel, and Combo - Overdrive. You can complete them with any character, though some are easier than others, so if you're struggling, try another character and see if that helps.

Any time you do practically anything in Guilty Gear: Strive, you'll earn a bit of money for it. The only way to spend this money is to go fishing, so you can randomly unlock more cosmetics and concept art. 100,000W$ is quite a bit, but not as much as you might expect. You gain a lot of money through completing missions, and you'll receive a large chunk of change when you win in Arcade Mode with a new character, but even if you do all of this, it still won't be enough. Online battles earn a fair amount of money whether you win or lose, so they are your best bet for earning more money. These even work for Player Matches against partners, if you want to make the grind faster.

There is a way to exploit this though. If you back up your save to the cloud, you can spend all of your money, re-download your save, and you'll have all of your money back. Your items will be gone, but the amount of money you've spent will still be recorded. Simply re-download the save and spend the money over and over until the trophy unlocks.

When your opponent is near the edge of the arena, doing enough damage to them in a short amount of time will make them break through the magical wall and fly into a different part of the stage. These do not all have to be done in a single match, and can be done online, with CPUs, or locally with two controllers.

A Homing Jump is when you charge a Dust Attack by holding R1 while simultaneously holding Up. A Roman Cancel is a feature unique to the Guilty Gear franchise. It enables you to pull off more complex combos more easily, at the cost of half of your Tension meter. By default, this is activated by pressing three face buttons down at once, but you can also re-map this function to any of the remaining buttons on your controller to make it easier. Try and do at least one in any match you can and you'll have this in no time, but there is a trick if you find yourself needing to grind these out. Survival Mode offers several easy, one-round matches in a row, and generally your Tension meter will be charged at least halfway by the end of one. This can let you get ten or twenty Roman Cancels in just a few minutes. These do not all have to be done in a single match, and can be done online, with CPUs, or locally with two controllers.

A dash input Roman Cancel is when you activate a Roman Cancel right after dashing forward or backward. These do not all have to be done in a single match, and can be done online, with CPUs, or locally with two controllers.
You've Fallen Right into my Trap

53.81%

Bronze
A blue Psych Burst is a handy way to help get your opponent off your back while you're stuck in a combo, or if you're pinned to the side of the stage. There's a special blue meter beneath your health bar that slowly fills up over time, and by pressing R1 + any face button while being hit by an attack, you can expend it for a blue psych burst. You can also remap this input to any of the other buttons on your controller. There are also gold psych bursts, which happen if you do the input while not being hit by an attack, but those don't matter for the sake of this trophy. Do ten of these and the trophy is yours. These do not all have to be done in a single match, and can be done online, with CPUs, or locally with two controllers.
Ready to Meet Your Maker?
Successfully land a counter hit on an opponent with MAX R.I.S.C. Gauge while in a match.
(Excluding Tutorial Mode and Team of 3 Mode)
27.52%
Uncommon
Silver
This trophy will likely not come naturally, so you may want to enlist help online through a Gaming Session or use a second controller to get it. The R.I.S.C. Gauge is Guilty Gear's answer to someone just holding the block button until time runs out. There's a small meter underneath your health bar that will fill as you block attacks, and empty as you take or deal damage. Once it's all the way full, being hit by an attack while blocking will cause you to be automatically countered, and do a lot more damage.

Your goal is to do this on an opponent, which is not very easy. The CPUs are typically too aggressive for the R.I.S.C. Gauge to fill up (or on lower difficulties, too stupid to block), and most random people playing online will know better than to just block for the whole match. This is simple with a partner or with two controllers, however. Just have your opponent hold back, and after the gauge is full, hit them with a low sweeping attack, and you will unlock this trophy.
Extraordinary Denfensive Instinct

Faultless Defense has you sacrifice Tension for full, no questions asked defense against any attack. If you have some of your Tension meter, simply hold Left Stick: Down back plus any two face buttons, and a bright blue shield will appear all the way around your character. Block attacks using this technique 100 times, and get this trophy. These do not all have to be done in a single match, and can be done online, with CPUs, or locally with two controllers.
Shine When Polished
Successfully block an attack with Instant Block 100 times while in a match.
(Excluding Tutorial Mode and Team of 3 Mode)
20.21%
Uncommon
Silver
Instant Block gives you total defense against an attack without using Tension, but comes at the price of being more difficult. If you hold Left Stick: Down back the moment you're hit with an attack, your character will flash white, you'll take no damage and receive no knockback, and the word "Just!" will appear on your corner of the screen.

While this may come with normal play depending on how good you are, it's much simpler to have a partner online or a second controller take a few minutes to help you grind these out by using the same move over and over again (click here if you want to create a gaming session). After your 100th Instant Block, the trophy will unlock. These do not all have to be done in a single match, and can be done online, with CPUs, or locally with two controllers.
I'm Overflowing with Power
Get into the Positive Bonus state without performing a Wall Break while in a match.

The Positive Bonus state occurs when you are doing particularly well in a match, rewarding you with a constantly filling tension gauge while your opponent takes a penalty to their own. You will likely unlock this by accident against a CPU, because on lower difficulties they are very easily comboed, and aggressive gameplay against them is rewarded. Play aggressively, and this should come easily.

If you have less than 30% of your health remaining when you KO your opponent, this trophy will unlock, simple as that. If you are truly struggling to do this, have a partner or a second controller hit you until you're below 30%, then have them just stand there until you win.

Unsurprisingly, you will defeat an opponent with a Perfect after KOing them without taking a single hit yourself. Against other players, this can be difficult, but the Beginner level AI barely attacks at all, so a match or two against them in vs CPU should be enough. Failing that, having a partner online or a second controller locally will ensure a perfect victory, so long as they just stand there doing nothing.

This one is very specific, and you may want to enlist help online or use a second controller to get it fast. Essentially, you need to be standing within grabbing distance of an opponent (this means practically touching them, usually), jumping upwards right as they're about to grab you, then hitting them while you're still in the air. Grabs are not horribly common moves, by CPUs or random players online, but outside help can make it happen in just a minute or two. These do not all have to be done in a single match, and can be done online, with CPUs, or locally with two controllers.

He has a few different attacks that will cause you to grow an Afro, but the consistent one is his special move Snip Snip Snip, in which he grabs you and gives you a haircut. CPUs don't seem to use this move very often, but against a partner, using a second controller, or just fighting enough random Faust players online should make this easy.

To enter the Dragon Install state, you will have to be playing as Ky Kiske. While most characters only have two Overdrive moves, Ky is unique in that he has three, but the last one (and the one relevant for this trophy) can only be performed at low health. In the Dragon Install state, you will do far more damage and your attacks will have more reach, which should help you defeat your opponent more easily. This may come naturally if you play a lot of Ky, but failing that, just do it with a partner, a second controller, or an easy/beginner level AI.
