Roadmap
Stage 1: Main Story
Batman: Arkham City is the sequel to Rocksteady's critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum, and thus mires you in the events following almost immediately after the Caped Crusader's long visit to the penitentiary. The premise shouldn't be anything too unfamiliar for returning players: Bruce Wayne has been captured, courtesy of Hugo Strange, and finds himself trapped within the walls of Arkham City along with its bloodthirsty residents and scheming rogues' gallery. However, the road this adventure takes from there is anyone's guess. What is Protocol 10, the vague, yet prominently mysterious plan that's constantly hinted about? How exactly, did the mega-prison come to be? That, and everyone in the city knows the Bat is there. Which old acquaintances and vengeful foes will be there to greet him upon arrival? You're in for one very long night. Don't forget to buckle up and enjoy the ride.
This trophy list is similar to that of its predecessors in many aspects, with more than a couple of new additions that lengthen completion time and make the platinum harder to obtain than Arkham Asylum's. Two playthroughs of the game, both on New Game and New Game Plus, along with 100% completion will be needed to platinum this. The Riddler has also made his grand return, coming back to puzzle and confound his nemesis with 400 (in addition to another 40 for Catwoman, as mentioned below) riddler trophies to collect. Challenge Mode, now named Riddler's Revenge, is home to trickier ranked maps itself, but those aren't the hardest parts. As you'll see below, the game's Challenge Mode is also home to twists of these challenges, in the form of campaigns. They are essentially a trio of different challenge maps played consecutively, with an available selection of beneficial and detrimental modifiers to use. In short, prepare yourself. Those that want to see this platinum through to the end will be tested.
One more note before we begin, and it pertains to DLC: if you have the Catwoman Bundle, you can play as the feline antiheroine, equipped with her own gadgetry, unique moves, and fighting style. You'll switch between her and Batman on occasion at different moments of the story. This bundle came with new copies of the game, both the Game of the Year / Ultimate Editions, and can be purchased from the PlayStation Store. Make sure that you download the bundle completely before you start the game.
Start up a New Game whenever you're ready. You will have the choice of options for difficulty, subtitles, hints, and brightness before you dive in to Arkham City. For two playthroughs, it is mandatory that you select either Normal or Hard difficulty. Unlike Arkham Asylum, Hard will not be required at all, but by the same token, the aforementioned New Game Plus mode demands that the game is played through on a difficulty above Easy. Simply select one of the other two difficulties. Once done with that, play through and enjoy the experience. Returning players should feel right at home with the familiar gameplay. It is also worth mentioning that Batman will begin the game with most of the gadgets from Arkham Asylum. If you ever find yourself not knowing where to go, mostly every main mission is conveniently marked on your map with a waypoint automatically as well. The waypoints are spotlighted in-game with a Bat Signal, so simply look around in the sky for the famous icon. It'll lead you straight to your destination.
While gliding around Arkham City, use your time here to acclimate yourself with both the prison and the adaptations of combat throughout the game. You'll need this experience for the New Game Plus playthrough, and even more so for Riddler's Revenge afterwards. And unlike Arkham Asylum, there are a variety of side missions to play. All of them are required for a couple of the trophies, and by extension, 100% completion. They will unlock as you progress through the story, and you'll most likely come across one during travel. Generally, none of these are timed and can be done whenever, so choose as you wish when you'd like to play them.
There are three notable side missions in the game, however, that should have your attention. There is a missable trophy associated with the first of these, while beginning the latter two are particularly convenient in saving time as you play through the game.
- There is one missable trophy in the game, specifically the trophy
Catch. Fortunately, it can dealt with almost immediately. When you exit the Courthouse shortly after getting
Acid Bath, you may see a mysterious figure watching you from a building across the street. Throw a Remote Controlled Batarang towards him. The figure will catch your batarang, thus netting the trophy. This isn't the only opportunity, but it is the earliest. Refer to the description for the three other opportunities. After exiting the Steel Mill some time after getting
One-Armed Bandit, you'll receive a Distress Flare coming from Kranky Co. Toys in the Amusement Mile. Visit the building and talk to a certain old acquaintance of yours to begin that side mission. You'll pass by most of the stipulations for the mission naturally, lessening the amount of time you need to backtrack for them. You should also complete at least the first four AR challenges from
AR Knight as soon as possible to unlock the Grapnel Boost ability. It accelerates travel through the city and will make grappling from point to point much faster.
Stage 2: Side Missions / Upgrades / Collectables
Now you should go after the side missions including Enigma Conundrum. Some of the side missions doesn't require much, like Bargaining Chip, Broken Toys, Stop the Clock, Watcher in the Wings, or Serial Killer. Some take time, like Aggravated Assualt, Dial Z for Murder, and Contract Terminated, but only AR Knight is actually difficult. Look at each individual trophy for more information.
Stage 3: New Game Plus
Now it's time to start NG+. It's set on a difficulty one step higher then Hard, with not only no counter icons and tougher and faster enemies, but you get enemies with shields, armor, and tasers from the start. But it does have its advantages as upgrades, riddle progression, and abilities carry over to NG+. But you'll have to do the rest of the side missions over again which shouldn't be a problem. Since you completed the Enigma Conundrum in Stage 2, all you need to do is the hostages.
Stage 4: Riddler's Revenge
This is the most brutal part of Batman: Arkham City's trophy list: Riddler's Revenge. Here I'd heavily reccomend to do the combat challenges first as they are easier than predator challenges, which has a 3 medal variety. It's simple until you start the extreme predator challenges. Look under Gold Revenge for more information, then comes the more ruthless campaigns, which has 3 challenges, mainly a mixture of combat and predator challenges. After the first challenge, you'll have 3 retries to finish, or game over. There is also modifiers you can use on each challenge that'll either help you succeed or will reduce your chances. And you have to use all the modifiers by the end of the campaign.Stage 5: Clean Up
Now it's time to get trophies you might have forgot in the other 4 stages. You might have forgotten these, but you should be able to get them in 10 minutes (excluding Storyteller).

Contract Terminated Stop the contract operative |

|
This trophy is related to the side mission, "Shot in the Dark", in which you investigate 3 mysterious shootings.
After you exit the Steel Mill for the very first time, you'll get notified of an S.O.S.
- Once you find where the S.O.S. originated from, you'll talk to a terrified political prisoner, who will get killed right in front of you. Trace and follow the trajectory of the shot to find both the position of the shooter, and the bullet shell. From now on until you complete the case, you will hear shootings randomly as you are traveling through Arkham City.
- After you hear the second gunshot, Oracle will notify you about it. The victim will be on the bridge near the church. Trace and follow the trajectory of the shot to a building in the distance. There, you'll find a tripod.
- You'll hear another shooting later on while traveling around Arkham City. On the map, it will be on the street, next to a building west of the Courthouse. When you find the body, trace the trajectory of the shot to where it ricocheted, then follow it furthermore to a building. There, look down to see Deadshot's body heat in the snow. This will unlock
Forensic Expert. - On your map will be 3 possible locations to where Deadshot's stash is. The one you're looking for is the stash northeast. There, you'll find his phone, and his schedule. This sets in motion a timed scene where you have to rush to rescue Jack Ryder from Deadshot. If you have the Grapnel Boost ability from the AR challenges, take advantage of it here. Once you get to him, you'll then end up on one of the buildings in the Bowery to take on the greatest assassin himself.
Deadshot
This mini-boss is surprisingly simple. Deadshot will be standing on top of a raised platform, looking around for you. You must stay out of his laser sight the entire time, and slide to cover whenever it starts nearing, as he will snipe and instantly kill you otherwise. When he isn't looking your way, simply move out of the cover and sneak to the next one, towards Deadshot. Once you are at the final cover and he looks away from you, quickly crouch and sneak under the vent right underneath him to incapacitate him.

Serial Killer Track down the serial killer |
|
|
This trophy is related to the side mission, "Identity Thief", in which you investigate an interesting series of murders.
The victims are killed, with their faces removed and wrapped in bandages afterwards. The first instance of this will appear after you disable Penguin's third communication disruptor. You will have to find the bodies of three of the victims of the Identity Thief around Arkham City. Once you do, scan their bodies and the crime scene for clues that could trace back to the killer.
Besides the first victim, these won't be shown on your map, so here are locations so you can find them yourself, and what you will need to be searching for when you scan. These map locations are courtesy of GamesRadar.
![]() |
The first victim appears after you destroy Penguin's third communication disruptor. It's in an alley near Wonder Tower. Scan:
- The victim's bandaged face.
- The victim's blood on the ground, to the right of his pants.
After that, you will need to follow the traces of blood. It will ultimately lead you to a political prisoner who happened to stumble upon the body. Talk to him to complete this part of the side mission.
![]() |
The second victim appears after the missions in the Museum. It's just north of Ace Chemicals, in another alleyway. Scan:
- The victim's bandaged face.
- The fingerprints on the knife, laying to the right of the body.
![]() |
The third victim will be located right by Ace Chemicals this time. Scan:
- The victim's bandaged face.
- The bleach imprint on the ground, below the victim's left foot.
Follow the trail of bleach in Detective Vision. It will ultimately lead you to an inmate that will inform you about the Identity Thief, and the location of the criminal's hideout. It will be near the Courthouse. When you walk inside, take a left and go down the hallway, stopping at the round table. There will be an audio journal on it for you to listen to, which shares a bit about the thief. At the end, the gate behind you will close and the Identify Thief will reveal themself. Once the cutscene concludes, turn back and walk toward the fireplace. You'll find a panel on the wall that you can hack with your Cryptographic Sequencer. The password you're searching for will be "MOCKINGBIRD". After the gate opens, simply leave out the way you came to go back outside and conclude this side mission.

Mystery Stalker Reveal the mystery watcher |
|
|
IMPORTANT! |
|---|
| The one and only missable trophy in the entire game, |
This trophy is related to the side mission, "Watcher in the Wings" in which you investigate a mysterious stalker.
It starts after you exit the Courthouse for the at the very beginning of the game. If you look up on top of a building in front of you, you can see a mysterious person with a red hood standing on the building. Throw a Remote Batarang to him for the trophy,
Catch, then grapple up to him. He'll vanish once you do, leaving a signal behind. Scan it to start the side mission.
From that point on, he'll be in 3 other locations. All of them require story progression to unlock and don't need to be done in order.
- After you exit the Steel Mill for the first time, you should see the red-hooded man on the top of the nearby Ferris Wheel.
- After you rescue and interrogate Mayor Quincy Sharp, the mysterious red-hooded man will be on the building behind you.
- After you save Vicki Vale from the snipers, look behind you again just to find him on that building.
Scan each of the signals. Once you have done that to all three, you will automatically connect to the Batcomputer, where you will have to line up the symbols that the stalker leaves on the Arkham City map in a short puzzle. You can move the adjoined symbols with the stick, and rotate/expand/contract the symbol with the
stick. The objective is to line up the four points in the symbol with the stalker locations. There are 5 points; the point that doesn't line up with anything will indicate the stalker's final location.
From what you start with, you'll want to begin rotating the circle so that the three points right next to each other are at the top of the symbol. Afterwards, enlarge it to try and fit all of the meeting locations. It is quite simple, and should take only a couple of minutes to solve. Below is a picture of what the solution to the puzzle is if you are finding it difficult. (Credit to GamesRadar) If done correctly, the signals will line up to a side of the Church, where you'll meet Azrael for the final time.

Distress Flare Answer the call for help |
|

|
Broken Toys Destroy it all |
|
|
This trophy is related to the side mission, "Fragile Alliance", where you'll be aiding an old acquaintance of yours.
It will start pretty early in the game. You will get a notification of somebody calling for help at Krank Co. Toys. Once you arrive, there you'll find thugs outside the entrance to the building. Defeat them and head inside, where you'll find Bane, scheming on a map at the back wall of the room. Simply approach him and hear what he has to say about the TITAN container to start the side mission.
(TITAN containers)
After agreeing to team up with Bane, you have to destroy six TITAN containers scattered around Arkham City. Once you find one, you'll need to destroy it by spraying it with Explosive Gel. You'll be passing by nearly all of the TITAN containers as you play the story, so it is recommended to start this as soon as it comes up (with this said, you won't yet be able to access them all at this point). When you near one, it'll show up as a red circle in Detective Mode.
The locations of all six will appear on the map. When you have destroyed them, head back to Krank Co. Toys. Prepare for a fight upon entry, as a number of thugs will enter the building. Bane will be fighting with you, but keep in mind that friendly fire can happen. Stay clear of Bane to avoid this. After the battle is done, Bane will turn on you and reveal the other six TITAN containers he rounded up. Once Batman locks him up, walk up to the TITAN containers and destroy the rest of them to complete the mission.

Dial Z For Murder Stop the phone booth killer |

This is when the game will give you the ringing telephone's location. Answer it, and Zsasz will tell you his cruel past while you have to track a dot going across the screen. This will track his call, so the more you stay on that dot, the more a bar at the bottom of the screen will fill, giving you the location to his hideout. Stopping the phone booth killer will take about 8 calls, and the telephones that you've answered before won't ring again. After you have his location, go to his hideout and take him out for this trophy.

The hardest for me personally was the one at Joker's Steel Mill when you had to use the Dive Bomb, then glide through the short tunnel. Don't release it too low or you're going to hit ground, and don't release too high that you would miss the tunnel, while the rest shouldn't take too long.

Conundrum Rescue the first hostage from Riddler |
|
|
|
Mastermind Rescue the second hostage from Riddler |
|
|
Requirement: 80 Riddles
Once you have 80 riddles, use the Enigma Machine to solve the riddle (darkness) then go to the location. Once in the building, walk on the pad at the center of the room. The Riddler will cheat you this time around, so turn on Detective Mode and after the containers stop moving, use the Batarang to hit the question mark below the hostage. Then glide and save him.
|
Puzzler Rescue the third hostage from Riddler |
|
|
Requirement: 160 Riddles
Once you have 160 Riddles, use the Enigma Machine to solve the riddle (penny), then go to the location. Once there, open the door and use your line launcher to get across the water. Move the box to the right side above with your REC gadget by shooting at the generator to the left, then hit the question mark with a Batarang. Move the box to the left now and then use your Remote Control Batarang. Get it under the fence and hit the other question mark to disable the electric gate to your right. Use the line launcher to get through the blade tunnel, then refire the Line Launcher to your right halfway across. Use the REC gadget on the generator to the right, then use it on the left generator to free the box. Use the left generator to move the box next to the fence, then use the REC gadget on the middle generator to have it come on the pad at the center of the room. This will disable the electrified gate so you can save the hostage.
|
Intellectual Rescue the fourth hostage from Riddler |
|
|
Requirement: 240 Riddles
Once you have 240 Riddles, use the Enigma Machine to solve the riddle (shadow), then go to the location. Once there, use your Crytographic Sequencer on the switch behind you, and that will disable a few floor plates, making a path. Follow the path, then Batarang the switch across the room to disable another path, but you have to do this while avoiding getting skewered by the roller. When you get to the end, climb up and run across the bridge, then Line Launch to where you can see an electrified gate. Use Explosive Gel on the wall behind you, then use the REC gadget on the generator so the box comes forward. Then use your Remote Control Batarang to hit the green question mark, disabling the gate so you can get through. Use your line launcher, then aim it at the window in front of the hostage. Batman will both grab him, and smash through the window, ending the level.
|
Genius Rescue all the hostages from Riddler |
|
|
Requirement: 400 Riddles
Once you have 400 Riddles, Oracle will notify you of The Riddler's Hideout. Once you're there, you'll have to dive bomb then release so you can glide over the electric fence, then it'll be to your left. Get in via the grate and take a look at the predicament. If the hostages stop moving, they die, so you can't get in their way. While moving, be cautious of who is surrounding you, because if you get in somebody's green light (2 feet in front of them), they will die. Follow the tracks until you get to the stairs, then follow a hostage under the stairs, then perform a Takedown on the Riddler.
